East London’s I Am Harlequin is back with a brand new video for her latest release ‘Minimal’which has been directed by Sean Clancy (Royksopp, New Order).
The video for ‘Minimal’ is bright and funny and was conceived around the idea of children’s educational shows. The video is presented in the style of a ‘Blue Peter’ type TV programme and as the video progresses the presenters own angst starts to bleed into the video creating an ironic parallel to the cheery façade.
In her own words, ‘Minimal represents a bit of a departure from the traditional I Am Harlequin style – the opera-inspired tones, epic choirs and general sense of grandeur. Minimal is none of that. It is as the title of the song suggest – minimal.
Since her last release in spring 2017 the songstress has been hard at work in the studio writing her own new material whilst collaborating with Moonlight Matters (Kitsune) , Hermanos Inglesos (Sony), Schulkid & Sunglasses Kid.
