Elvana Gjata, known in her native Albania simply as Elvana, is undeniably one of the most popular singer/songwriters in the Balkans right now. Following in the footsteps of the biggest stars with Balkan roots such as Dua Lipa, Rita Ora and Bebe Rexha , she’s now ready to conquer the hearts of listeners around the world. Her newest single “Off Guard”, recorded with worldwide star Ty Dolla $ign, is a sure hit for the summer of 2018!
Elvana’s career started in 2001 and she has gone on to release more than 50 singles and 2 albums. The multi-talented artist is also the winner of the 3rd season of “Dancing With the Stars Albania”. For more than a year now, she has been working on her first English album with award-winning songwriter Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd. Her first single “Forever is Over”, produced by David Guetta, was released last year. Elvana is back with a brand new song called “Off Guard” recorded in collaboration with Poo Bear. The song was produced by The Audibles, who together with Poo Bear are responsible for some of the top tracks of Justin Bieber’s album “Purpose”.
Poo Bear: “Elvana is undeniably one of the most talented and skilled artist that I’ve ever worked with in my career!!!! Her vocal control, soul and spirit combined make a voice that resonates through all frequencies” – says Poo Bear when asked about working with Elvana.
It was also Poo Bear who introduced this project to Ty Dolla $ign. With a longtime friendship between them, they have partnered on many projects in the past. Together with Elvana they wrote the music and lyrics for “Off Guard”. The song is headed for this summer, with an amazing music video too.
The video for the single was shot in California and directed by Ethan Lader (Bruno Marsa, Wiz Kalifa, Enrique Iglesias and more), who said: “Combining beach, fashion and urban lifestyle this video is a fun battle of the sexes: Guys vs. Girls. From lowrider hopping in the parking lot, a sexy competitive basketball game, a performance under the pier and more, this video is jam-packed with fun moments that make you feel good. The video has a cool 90‘s vibe when it comes to having fun and fashion. It was fun putting Elvana and TY in throwback 90‘s gear, keeping it street and stylish”
