Skyler Stonestreet, songwriter of catchy songs from Dua Lipa’s “IDGAF” and Chainsmokers’ “Kanye,” steps out on her own with a gritty debut drawing on ‘90s grunge pop influences and an edge inspired by her own successful battle with cancer.
Skyler Stonestreet – Bankrupt
“Breast cancer is just one piece of my life,” shares Skyler. “It doesn’t define me. But now I want to help other people who are going through it. And I want girls to know that they should feel okay in their own skin.”
Born in Las Vegas and landing in Los Angeles, Skyler briefly attended music school before dropping out to pursue her career full time.
Skyler gained notice as a writer and vocalist on tracks like The Chainsmokers platinum single “Kanye,” and Cheat Codes and Nicky Romero’s “Sober.” She also wrote Marshmello’s dance hit “Chasing Colors,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “We’ll Be The Stars,” and Dua Lipa’s global hit “IDGAF,” which has over 300 million streams.
Her music has been featured on Grey’s Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Jane By Design, Switched At Birth, Royal Pains, Ghost Whisperer, and many more.
“Music has saved me,” she says. “As long as I keep writing, keep playing, and keep inspiring others through my music, I know I’m right where I need to be.”
