No Rome returns with new track ‘Cashmoney’, new EP coming soon (Dirty Hit)

No Rome returns today with new track ‘Cashmoney’, which is available now on Dirty Hit. His ambitious second EP, ‘Crying in the Prettiest Places’, will be released on May 3rd, with the tracklisting also revealed for the first time today.

Fresh from joining The 1975 on the main stage of Coachella – where they performed ‘Narcissist’ – ‘Cashmoney’ is the first taste of new music since No Rome’s acclaimed debut EP ‘RIP Indo Hisashi’ (which has already been streamed over 50 million times). Continuing The 1975’s global arena tour over the summer, No Rome has also announced details of a US headline show (Rough Trade NY, May 23rd) and his appearance at Reading & Leeds festival. Further live news will follow soon.

‘Cashmoney’ is a lush, effortless cut of R&B from No Rome, and a playful spin on the clichés of luxe living (Dolce and Gabbana here, Balenciaga there) from a songwriter and producer whose own upbringing was evidently anything but. “I wrote ‘Cashmoney’ when I was 16 and working in a call centre in Manila,” No Rome recalls. “I’ve always written songs about fashion: it’s an inspiration and form of expression for me. I just never really knew how to put it in a pop context before.” On ‘Cashmoney’, No Rome continues to push those walls of the pop context, confirming his early promise as polymath able to connect the worlds of music, design, fashion and art.
