After recently signing to Sacred Bones Records, new four-piece Exploded View, fronted by German/Bristol political- journalist-turned-musician/singer Anika, announce news of their debut self-titled album, due August 17th.
While lead single ‘No More Parties in The Attic’ is laden with an enticing no-wave, post-punk sound, layered with distorted guitars and ominous drones– ‘Orlando’ chimes in with echoing vintage synths, courtesy of Hugo Quezada that clash with a chilly electro backbeat and an anthemic soulful bass line setting the tone. With her disarming quietude nursery rhyme like vocal delivery, Anika remarks on the creation process: “Well, that day I was speechless and empty; a reflection of the times. I became a vessel for the past; the only way to deal with or help understand the present. Enlightenment came with the help of some strong leading ladies; A certain author, a certain film and a certain actress. Go figure.”

About Exploded View:
Exploded View is a new collaborative project helmed by the UK-born, Berlin-based political- journalist-turned-musician Anika (Invada Records / Stones Throw). The project is newly signed to Sacred Bones Records, who will release a single in March and a full-length later this year.
After playing a string of 2014 solo shows in Mexico with a backing lineup composed of local producers Martin Thulin and Hugo Quezada, Anika and her new bandmates discovered a chemistry that they simply had to capture on tape.
The dexterity of the band comes from a collective lifetime in music. Anika’s résumé alone is incredible -a successful solo artist produced by Portishead/ Beak> founder Geoff Barrow, a DJ, radio host, and a live collaborator with the likes of Michael Rother (Neu!), Jandek, and Pete Swanson. Thulin is the producer for Crocodiles and an accomplished solo artist and producer whose career in music at present is over a decade long, and everyone else involved in the project has worked in music in Mexico City for many years. Exploded View emphasizes the talents of Anika and her collaborators in a new way, one that cuts through its improvisational roots with laser-focus and intent.
