Colours Audio head honcho J.A.Y.C.E. takes time out from his meticulous curation of the label to return to his roots as an artist. Teaming up with Eric Racy to present the Love Range EP,out November 6th.
Opener ”African Ancestors” enters with layered drum pallets and deep slanting wispy atmospherics and fat bass riffs. The track progresses into Afrocentric spoken word which drives you into a progressive trance like vibe. The intro track lays down the foundations of Colours Audio sound through its signature melodies.
The title track “Love Range” continues the mood with floating keys, languid riffs, distant voices and J.A.Y.C.E.’s trademark chugging dub bass.
“33 Seconds” matches tougher techno riffs with melancholic strings and echo box layers creating a tuff yet smooth late night groover.
On “Clearer Signs” the pair take a sexier turn, with Latin percussion and moods anchoring a deeper soulful swing.
The boys continue this aesthetic on “Sarah’s Lullaby” introducing a chunkier hand clap and introspective keys fluttering atop another speaker punching bass pattern.
A stellar EP from this vital partnership, pushing the winning streak of Colours Audio further afield.
