Midland announces debut album ‘Fragments of Us’, Listen to “Never Enough”

Fragments of Us, the 13-track debut album from DJ/Producer Midland, will arrive in stores physically in Vinyl and CD format and in all digital outlets on October 4th, 2024. The album comes via Midland’s own imprint, Graded. The cover art is a photo by his brother Dom Agius, and the type and graphics are by longtime friend and designer, Nick Shea.

“Fragments of Us is at its core my homage to and celebration of the gift of otherness and the spaces and voices that have helped along the way.”

Alongside the announcement, Midland has shared the lead single ‘Never Enough’. Filtered through heavy vocoder patches, ‘Never Enough’ builds a slow burning, deeply affecting late night ballad sung by the artist himself. The track takes listeners on a late-night drive through the process of detangling your roots to build new paths forward. Amidst the hefty phasing and dubbed out percussion, listeners are entrenched in the essentialist approach to high-fidelity and analog focal points Midland has become known for.

The full length album from which the single is taken, features the voices of many of Midland’s artistic heroes including Marlon Riggs, David Wojnarowicz, Jonny Seymour and Horse Meat Disco’s Luke Howard. It’s as historical as it is forward-facing; a further step into the unknown taken by an artist still very much exploring the possibilities of his craft.

Never Enough by Midland
Alongside his own studio output across his illustrious decades long career, Midland has become a choice remixer for acts like Disclosure, Dua Lipa, Little Dragon, St. Vincent and the Chemical Brothers. As a DJ he has become well known for delivering his kaleidoscopic taste with a mixing technique that nods as much to his British lineage as it does to a smoother European style. From Glastonbury’s NYC Downlow (where he has been a regular since 2015) to the seaside Montreux Jazz Festival to the closing slot at Sonar and his sold out “10 Hours at Islington Assembly Hall” day parties, Midland is able to play in a way that shows a deep understanding of spaces and what is needed to bring them alive.

Fragments Of Us ultimately embraces the themes of otherness (and togetherness) that have informed Midland as an individual and community-minded artist. An intense form of self-reflection, it’s a summation of his decade-long career and the long-awaited debut LP from an artist that values real connection above all else.
