German composer, pianist and producer Niklas Paschburg announces his latest solo piano project, L’Écho De Bretagne, due for release via Nettwerk in March 2026. To mark the occasion, Niklas also shares a new single, “À La Maison”.
“À La Maison” is a tender reflection on belonging and intimacy. Built around a single, unedited piano performance captured late one night in Brittany, the track glows with warmth and imperfection; the creak of wood, the hum of tape, the sound of space itself. “After being alone for a while, I called someone close to me,” Niklas recalls. “After we hung up, I just sat down at the piano and played without thinking. That first take became the final version – with all its imperfections, all the broken tape sounds. It’s a story about where we feel at home – whether in a place, a person, or simply a moment.”
Niklas will be debuting new music on the road with solo piano shows across Europe including headline shows in Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin and London. Full dates below.

L’Écho De Bretagne, Paschburg’s latest release on Nettwerk, finds him returning to the piano after years of exploring more electronic and ambient textures. Written and recorded in solitude in the small port town of Paimpol, in Brittany, the EP captures a sense of stillness and reconnection with self, with sound, and with silence. Each piece distills a fleeting moment: the echo of footsteps on cobblestones, the slow rhythm of the sea, the soft hum of everyday life. Designed as, and written during, a “digital detox” L’Écho De Bretagne is Niklas’ return to analogue production with no devices on him and nothing connected, just him, the piano and the space.
“It all began in Paimpol,” Niklas explains. “I found this old house with a grand piano – a house where time seemed to have stopped. It had a certain energy, full of stories. I spent days just sitting at the piano, writing as the light shifted through the windows. The world outside felt paused, disconnected from the digital noise. It was there that I rediscovered the piano not as a tool, but as a space to breathe.”
As with his previous works, place becomes both muse and collaborator. “Paimpol” unfolds like a slow sunrise over the harbor, evoking calm and distance. “Le Port” looks outward, recalling Niklas’s childhood spent near Hamburg’s shipyards: “Ports have always fascinated me,” he says. “They open to the world. Watching boats return each evening, I’d imagine where they’d been and what they’d seen.” “Marché”, meanwhile, brims with life and color, inspired by the morning bustle of the town’s central market: “People laughing, talking, meeting local farmers. The whole town came alive. Even as a stranger, I felt instantly welcomed.”
Closing the collection, “Adieu” reflects on letting go. “Letting go is both liberating and difficult,” he says. “Paimpol became a kind of utopia for me but one that never truly existed outside my imagination. Saying goodbye was necessary, even if it meant leaving behind something beautiful.”
L’Écho De Bretagne is an introspective and tactile work. A quiet return to the essence of composition. Where Oceanic (2018) and Svalbard (2020) translated vast seascapes and frozen solitude into sound, and Mexican Alps (2024) explored new territories without the piano, this project turns inward. It listens instead to the echo within; of memory, connection, and stillness. Serving as the soundtrack to disconnection and the sonic antidote to a terminally online culture.
