Launched in 2012 by the Berlin based crew of Cinthie, Diego Krause, stevn.aint.leavn, Ed Herbst and Albert Vogt the Beste Modus and Beste Freunde imprints have gained a loyal following over the past few years, notoriously delivering material aimed squarely at the dance floor and always encompassing a raw, underground aesthetic. Here we see the latter imprint continue with yet another array of heavy house and techno cuts from Downhill music boss Moises, Griessmuhle Berlin regulars Esposito & Nadje, Slapfunk’s Anil Aras and Canada’s Paolo Rocco.
Up first is Moises’ ‘Easy Beauty’ laying the foundations with swinging rhythms, fluttering synth swells and lumpy sub bass tones which all dynamically evolve and unfold throughout. Esposito & Najde join forces next for ‘HBP’, delving into darker territories with a raw stripped-back drum groove, murky sonar like tones and billowing dub stabs at the compositions core, whilst radio like voices and rumbling bass drones ebb and flow throughout.
Anil Aras takes the lead on the flip with ‘Untitled’, offering up swinging 909 drums and spiralling dub chords to create a perfect peak-time dance floor tool. Paolo Rocco’s ‘III’ then rounds out the package on a deeper tip with ethereal pads, bumpy house drums and hip house style vocal hooks.
‘Beste Modus 05’ is out December 2017.
