Needs x UN Women HeForShe In aid of gender equality
Oval Space London on Sunday 11th March
Needs (not-for-profit) event and label series teams up with fellow non profit UN Women NC UK on their HeForShe Arts Week, London with an all day event on Sunday 11th March using music and culture to encourage and explore the challenging topic of gender equality.
Taking place at London culture hub Oval Space, the event brings together engaging panel discussions from shesaidso, AIM (Association of Independent Music) and Mixcloud (who are also the official streaming partner for the event), plus a live recording of Resident Advisor’s Exchange podcast during the day, followed by performances from Peggy Gou, Bobby Pleasure and some special guests yet to be announced into the evening.
The event will feature influential and innovative men and women from across the music world engaged in positive discussions and empowering performances with the hope of creating real change for both genders across the industry. These include Keith Harris of UK Music who has been in the music industry since the 1970s and still represents Stevie Wonder, model and activist Munroe Bergdorf, BBC Radio 1 presenters B Traits, artists Fay Milton of Savages, Abbey Raymonde from Bella Union and Roxanne De Bastion, gender-focused childcare organisation Manny & Me, Gabriel from non-stop dancehall party The Heatwave, Snoochie Shy (Radar Radio) and Lily Mercer (Rinse FM).
There will also be a vinyl and digital EP release to coincide with the event featuring artists Peggy Gou and Juju & Jordash. Needs004 will be released in March and features bespoke cover artwork courtesy of The Line Girl.
All funds raised from the event and release are to be donated to UN Women NC UK to support their work to achieve gender equality.
