Goodbye 2017 and hello to 2018! While some choose to ring in the new year by setting resolutions, Snowta is setting standards for music festivals by making Minneapolis a go-to destination for New Years. Snowta breaks ground, selling out 2 day GA tickets with a total of 14K tickets sold as the two night fest featured headliners and #1 brekaing artist of the year Post Malone, plus Gucci Mane, Excision, Pretty Lights, Ganja White Night, Ookay, and Mija plus many more!
Snowta Producer Zack Chazin says “Snowta has officially landed! 2016 proved to us that this concept of creating a summer festival – indoors featuring multi genre stages ranging from underground rap/bass to AAA acts could work in Minnesota, on New Years. 2017 showed us how big we can actually take this. The sky is the limit. Snowta is here to stay. Our goal for Snowta is to grow this festival into not only a staple in the NYE festival scene, but to make it a annual destination for festival goers worldwide. This year we sold out our 2 day GA passes. The growth we have experienced in just two years proves to me that our goals for this festival is easily accomplished. It’s not easy getting people to Minnesota when it’s -43 degrees outside. Snowta will definitely change that!”
Day 1 festival goers begin to arrive in everything from winter coats to onesies, challenging the sub-zero degree weather. Main stage acts Beak Nasty and Joyryde kicked off the night, followed up by Ookay’s live performance featuring keytar and jazz influenced beats and graphics. Headliner
Gucci Mane reminded all that this festival brought out the hip-hop community, equally as it did the electronic community just in time for closing act Pretty Lights. True to his name, the lighting production created a magical ambiance that put everyone under a spell of electronic beats. Not to mention the four-piece live band that attracted all music lovers of all genres.
Day 2 reminded everyone why Snowta is truly a unique festival experience, by setting the tone for the rest of the night with Post Malone early on. Hometime favorite Prof, and genre-crossing dj Mija kept the crowd on their feet throughout the night leading up to Ganja White Night’s set proving that Minneapolis is a true bass head community. Taking over Snowta’s production, Excision dropped more than just balloons and created a blinding light show in the best way possible. Teaming up with Excision’s Paradox Production crew to curate the event’s lighting and sound, Snowta’s mainstage featured a 50-ft. LED light wall that created insane visuals. Colorado based band Sunsquabi let’s us know that “the Snowta production and crew was on-point, professional and super fun to hang out with. It was easy to coordinate a meet and greet event with our fans and put on an amazing show for our first set of 2018.”
Ending the year off right and raging into the new, is the only way to celebrate NYE and Snowta is the only place to do it. If you missed the festival this year, don’t make the same mistake and be sure to end 2018 the way you should’ve started it out!
