Introducing ‘Woman’ and ‘Never Been The Same’, the first two singles taken from the forthcoming album, ‘The Call’, by singer songwriter Liz Vice. The independent project features the amazing Roberto Di Gioia (Web Web) on keys, and was co-produced by Grammy Winner, bass player, producer extraordinaire, and former Bowie collaborator, Timothy Lefebvre.
‘Woman’, which explores themes of wisdom, strength, and spiritual insight was written by Liz Vice along singer-songwriter Harvest Grapevine during a writer’s retreat in Vermont in 2017. Woman draws listeners in with its powerful message, inspired by the concept of Lady Wisdom as a guiding force. With lyrics that encourage self-reflection and the recognition of one’s inherent value, the song speaks to both women and men, reminding them of their dignity and strength in the face of life’s challenges. The soulful melody and evocative storytelling set the tone for what’s to come in ‘The Call’. “When Harvest and I wrote ‘Woman’, I wanted to capture the essence of wisdom as this ever-present guide, especially during those moments when we feel most lost,” says Liz Vice. “This song has been in my head for nearly 10 years. I know that one day the song would need to be recorded but, I wasn’t sure of when or how. Needless to say, a lot of life has happened for me between 2017 and now. I’ve learned to listen and to trust my inner voice that leads me toward clarity and fulfillment. It’s about finding strength and dignity in the midst of uncertainty, which is something we all face one way or another.”
‘Woman’ is more than just a single—it’s the first glimpse into The Call, an album that promises to explore themes of self-discovery, courage, and transformation. Liz’s soulful vocals and thought-provoking lyrics invite listeners on a journey that challenges them to confront their fears and embrace their true selves.
A soulful reflection on growth, self-love, and transformation ‘Never Been The Same’ is a stirring anthem of self-discovery and personal growth. With her signature blend of soul, gospel, and folk influences, Vice delivers a song that speaks to the power of stepping into one’s true self and leaving behind fear, embracing change, and finding home within. Rooted in Liz’s own journey, ‘Never Been The Same’ reflects on the transformation that comes from letting go of outdated narratives. “For so long, I thought playing small was doing myself a favor,” Vice shares. “But once I learned to love myself and allowed myself to take up space, which is an everyday practice, everything shifted. This song is a reminder that we don’t need permission to live fully; to take up space.”
Through heartfelt lyrics and soaring melodies, the track captures both the vulnerability and freedom that come with embracing who we are meant to be. The song’s message is clear: when you truly take the first step to live the life you know is possible, there’s no going back. As Vice sings, “The old things pass away while the truth remains, you will never ever be the same.”
