The critically acclaimed Grandbrothers (German Turkish pianist Erol Sarp and Swiss engineer/software designer Lukas Vogel) is pleased to share the video to new single ‘We Collide’ taken from their forthcoming album ‘Elsewhere’, set for release on September 26th via __and__others.
After four albums centred entirely around a modified concert grand piano – exploring its possibilities down to the finest detail – Grandbrothers are now widening their sonic scope for the first time.
Musically, the duo felt ready to take things further. “The concept had become our identity,” says Vogel. “Letting go of it brought questions: are we losing something – or discovering something new?” The result is a deliberate shift in direction. For the first time, drum samples, analogue synths and new rhythmic structures come into play – opening up new ways for Grandbrothers to express themselves.
Sounds collected over the years now take centre stage – not as additions, but as foundations. This shift will also shape the live experience. On the upcoming tour, Grandbrothers will mostly move away from the classic seated concert format – although there will be exceptions – and instead, perform in clubs and halls that allow the audience to engage more directly with the music. A newly developed light and stage show will accompany the performances. “The music is physical,” says Sarp. “It’s meant to be heard loud.” Sound as movement, as invitation – to immerse, and let go.
