South African artist Lazarusman announces highly anticipated album “Skin”

Grammy-nominated South African spoken-word artist Lazarusman unveils a deeply personal exploration of identity, featuring collaborations with Stimming, FKA Mash, Dwson, Boogie Vice, Johannes Brecht, Axone, Zito Mowa, Clint Smith, Sunaura, Modise Sekgothe, Moon’s Voyager, Xinobi and more.

After more than fifteen years of shaping the sound and soul of electronic music through his unmistakable spoken-word poetry, Grammy-nominated South African artist Lazarusman announces the release of his highly anticipated album, Skin. Born and raised in Johannesburg, Lazarusman has become one of electronic music’s most distinctive voices, crossing genres and continents with his metaphysical, imagery-rich and uplifting poetry. His work has earned him a Grammy nomination and a catalogue of chart-topping collaborations with some of the most respected names in dance music, firmly establishing him as one of Africa’s most influential contemporary artists.

Skin is an exploration of identity – both personal and collective. Drawing from Lazarusman’s experience growing up in a newly liberated South Africa, the album reflects on colourism, racism, faith, love, belonging and the existential realities of navigating a divided world. Rather than offering easy conclusions, Skin sits with complexity, examining what it means to inhabit a body, a history and a place in time.

Musically, the album is as expansive as the questions it asks. Traversing deep house, tech house, Afro house, breakbeats and jazz-inflected electronic music, Skin celebrates the many sounds that have inspired Lazarusman’s artistic journey. At its core, however, the album remains a celebration of language itself – and the transformative power of words.

“A man is only as good as his word.”

That philosophy runs through every track, shaping a body of work that reflects the evolution of an artist whose voice has become synonymous with authenticity, introspection and connection.

Featuring production and collaborations from Stimming, FKA Mash, Dwson, Boogie Vice, Johannes Brecht, Axone, Zito Mowa, Xinobi, Moon’s Voyager, Clint Smith, Sunaura and Modise Sekgothe, Skin presents a kaleidoscopic collection of sounds, perspectives and stories. From intimate meditations on love and presence to powerful reflections on race, memory and inherited belief systems, the album offers an immersive listening experience that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

With Skin, Lazarusman delivers his most ambitious work to date – a profound artistic statement that invites listeners to sit with the mess, beauty and complexity of being human.
