Centred around a lush, mellow groove, ‘Rooftop Conversations’ is as classy as it is enchanting with Oded’s infectious rolling bass hook, warm jazzy pads and a magical trumpet performance from Saskia, together creating the perfect soundtrack to any daydream.
“Rooftop Conversations is a creative discussion between artists and their instruments. It’s a track that will stimulate your alpha waves to create a relaxed and laid back state of mind.” – Oded Nir
Oded Nir is a bass player, producer, remixer and electronic live artist hailing from Amsterdam, who also happens to be the main man behind Suntree Records – a popular imprint spanning all sounds across the soulful, house, jazz and lounge spectrum. An all–round musician, Oded creates original sounds and blends them together with vocals & live instruments creating his own signature sensual sound. Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Oded is well travelled and was inspired by the sunny Ibizan shores at Café del Mar, listening to the likes of Kruder & Dorfmeister, Massive Attack and Jazzanova, although his first love was actually rock music. He released his debut album ‘Midnight Snacker’ (Suntree Records) in 2010 and has had a string of popular releases thereafter, including ‘Into Your Heart’ feat. Hed Kandi-singer Gia Mellish with Richard Earnshaw & Dutchican Soul, ‘Again & Again’ ft. American vocalist Chappell and ‘Impossible Love, all hitting the Traxsource charts. As an artist and DJ Oded performs all over the globe, from the Cannes Midem Festival to the Ibiza Club in China, along with his residencies in the top clubs and A-list hotels in Amsterdam. 2019 looks set to be an exciting one as Oded gets ready to release his brand new artist album ‘Rooftop Conversations’ in the Spring.
Amsterdam’s Saskia Laroo got involved in the city’s music scene at the age of 18 playing the trumpet and her passion for the instrument led on to her graduation as a jazz trumpet music teacher at the Conservatory of Hilversum. Fast forward to the mid Nintees and her debut album “It’s Like Jazz” (co-produced with Rob Gaasterland) propelled her onto the international jazz stage. She went on to tour with her own formations, amongst others with the Saskia Laroo Band, Jazzkia and Duo Laroo/Byrd all over the globe playing at international festivals like the Montreux Jazz festival in 2006 and 2007 after receiving the Montreux Jazz Award. Her artistry and her groove ring vibrantly and free on her seven CD albums and a DVD, journeying through all the music she has absorbed combining today’s music by uncontrived romps into new styles, eagerly limned as “nu jazz” or “swingin’ body-music” – a vivacious blend of hip-hop, jazz, salsa, funk reggae, and world, that a select few others would dare venture.
