In ‘The System’ EP, Danish based producer Sonny demonstrates his patient production techniques and balearic sound with originality and flare. The 3 track, mixed by the growing legend of Berlins own Kris Baha, is the first of 3 records to come this year from the young producer.
Track one ‘Vårt Fjell’, literally translated from Norwegian as ‘Our Mountain’, pays homage to Scandinavia’s mountainous sprawls and rambles, with a euphoric ambience that is splashed onto a fashion backdrop. Side B starts with title track ‘The System’ featuring vocals from Danish singer Sally Moreno Risell and evolves as a coming of age acid/fashion house track, favourably resemblant of early uku tuut records.
Closing track ‘The Hike to Bushrangers Bay’ is a dream house belter with the sizzle of an Scandinavian sausage. Sending improvised lead lines and a steamrolling groove, the track perfectly rounds out Sonny’s impressive third offering.
