AIR release ‘New Star in the Sky (Demo 1) ‘ + ‘Moon Safari’ 25th anniversary deluxe edition

Today AIR share a previously unheard demo track ‘New Star in the Sky (Demo 1)’ taken from their forthcoming Deluxe audio-video reissue package of seminal debut album Moon Safari – now due March 15th.

Jean-Benoît Dunckel wrote the song as an ode to his newborn baby back in 1997. ‘New Star in the Sky’ is arguably Air’s most joyful and romantic song and was written and produced at home, which only adds to the intimacy it embodies.

The full album reissue on March 15th (a Deluxe 2CD/Blu Ray Audio-Video) will include a Spatial Dolby Atmos audio version of the original album along with super rare or previously unreleased tracks including ‘New Star in the Sky’. Mike Mill’s 1998 60-min documentary film ‘Eating, Sleeping, Waiting & Playing’, filmed during the band’s first ever worldwide tour, will also feature in the re-issue package.

Recently, as well as kicking off their highly anticipated European tour of playing ‘Moon Safari’ in full for the first time, Air also announced a special 12” release of their seminal single ‘Kelly Watch The Stars’ for Record Store Day on April 20th. This special 12” picture disc will include the original song backed by the Moog Cookbook Remix along with a cryptically titled ‘Kelly Watch The Stars Edit version’ that was in fact engineered by none other than Motorbass co-founder Etienne de Crécy who provided a Dj-ready mix as well as Phoenix first ever (and one of a very very few) remix, in fact almost a cover version – the ‘American Girls Remix’ which the Versailles quartet fondly remember as “their” first actual release in 1998.

These releases follow the huge news that the iconic French duo will play their widely celebrated album in its entirety for the first time across Europe throughout the whole year. All dates on the original tour sold out in record time and given the exceptional demand for tickets as Air continue to add further dates to their touring schedule.
