apaull’s third album Gunfactor came out on 24 April 2026, on the furnace room records label. The ten-track album explores the pathways to fame and infamy — how exceptional talent, good fortune and, sometimes, darker events can push someone into the public eye.
“Altamont Joy” is a sludgy dirge that crawls along, looking for its destination. A tactile 303 flicker, tight hi-hats and unexpectedly bright melodies break through the heaviness. When you finally get your break: “You’re gonna look real crazy, being on the other side of that line.”
Brighton’s Ross Harper is a DJ and producer whose music spans techno, house and downtempo. Rooted in London’s 1990s club and rave culture, he founded City Wall Records in 2008. His catalogue includes The Dark Album and the Ambient Girl series. For “Altamont Joy”, he speeds up the track and strips it down into a sleek, club-ready offering.
