Sónar Lisboa shares full line up for 2025 edition headlined by Underworld, Richie Hawtin’s DEX EFX X0X, Nina Kraviz, and more

The full lineup for Sónar Lisboa 2025 is revealed today, headlined by Underworld, Richie Hawtin’s DEX EFX X0X, Nina Kraviz, Anetha’s brand-new visual show ‘EXHIBIT’, a rare Modeselektor DJ set, Marcel Dettmann presents ‘My Own Shadow’ live, Jennifer Cardini, and Max Cooper presents ‘Lattice 3D/AV’ live.

Today, the final lineup for the Sónar Lisboa 2025 is revealed, with 43 acts spread across an extended springtime weekend in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities on 11th, 12th, and 13th April 2025. Looking to the future of club culture and electronic music in 2025, it features incredible audiovisual shows by veteran innovators and a trio of stage takeovers by local labels and collectives, alongside globally recognised names and representatives from micro-scenes around the world. The aim is clear: show the best of Lisbon to the world, and bring the best of the world to Lisbon.

Headlining are a pair of acts who’ve shaped the history of dance music, but have never stopped looking forward: Underworld and Richie Hawtin. UK duo Underworld brought rave culture to the masses; via Trainspotting, Born Slippy became an anthem for an entire generation. This year – which marks the 30th anniversary of their iconic third studio album dubnobasswithmyheadman – they returned with Strawberry Hotel, a fresh new record that captures the euphoria and energy of their live sets. Richie Hawtin’s latest live show DEX EFX X0X – which premiered at Sónar 2024 in Barcelona this year – finds him looking backwards to move forwards. Instead of giant screens and elaborate visuals, the minimal techno pioneer has opted for immersive sound design and lighting, creating a show that brings the vibe of underground nightclubs to the festival stage.

At the heart of Sónar Lisboa 2025 is an iconic venue located in the centre of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Pavilhão Carlos Lopes, originally designed for the International Exhibition of Rio de Janeiro in 1922, is one of the city’s most recognisable buildings, located in the leafy confines of Parque Eduardo VII. For Sónar by Night the interior of the Pavilhão hosts two nights – on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th April – of uninterrupted, forward-thinking dance music on one single stage. During Sónar by Day – on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th April – the music also heads outdoors with two additional open-air stages, offering a diverse selection of live shows and DJ sets surrounded by greenery.

This incredible location offers a unique opportunity to experience some of the biggest electronic acts in the world in intimate settings. As well as Underworld and Richie Hawtin, this year’s lineup features Siberian techno trailblazer Nina Kraviz, forward-thinking French DJ Anetha (presenting her brand new AV show ‘EXHIBIT’), and a brand-new live set from longtime Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann, intriguingly entitled ‘My Own Shadow’. Founders of another Berlin institution, Monkeytown Records, Modeselektor have helped keep electronic music fresh, free-spirited and fun over the past two decades; they’re playing a rare DJ set. And French artist Jennifer Cardini is one of modern club culture’s quiet pioneers, exploring the liberatory side of dance music, from dark italo to seductive house and sleek techno.

Sónar Lisboa 2025 also puts Lisbon’s exciting and radical scene front and centre with three stage takeovers featuring local labels and collectives: Dengo Club, Enchufada, and Príncipe x TraTraTrax.

Pioneering Lisbon label Príncipe have spent almost 15 years bringing batida, the ground-breaking style of electronic music from the city’s suburbs, to the ears of global audiences. They’re teaming up with one of the hottest labels in the world right now, Colombia’s TraTraTrax, for a showcase of rhythmically diverse, polyglottal dance music. DJ Narciso and Paris-based DJ Lycox represent the Portuguese label, sharing a stage with hyped Colombian artist Bitter Babe and TraTraTrax co-founder DJ Lomalinda; before one of Príncipe’s brightest current stars, DJ Firmeza, goes back-to-back with Nick León, whose 2022 anthem Xtasis (featuring Venezuelan Raptor house pioneer DJ Babatar) helped catapult TraTraTrax onto the global stage.

Enchufada, the label co-founded by former Buraka Som Sistema producer Branko, returns to Sónar Lisboa with another takeover exploring styles from Africa, Brazil and Portugal. Headlining their stage is rising Brazilian artist Mu540, who fuses baile funk with grime and trap, UK funky and house, and Ghanian-British producer Hagan, whose DJ sets explore his mixed ancestry: expect highlife, UK funky and afro house delivered with a twist of jazz. An emotional live set by singer Rita Vian mixes traditional fado with influences from r&b and rap, and DJ sets from Pedro da Linha – who’s now carrying the torch for electro-kuduro – and 20-year old Brazilian-Portuguese tech house producer Quant round out the lineup.

Dengo Club is one of Lisbon’s leading LGBTQIA+ collectives, with events that blend local queer and POC artists with the best black and latin DJs and live acts from the global underground: baile funk, afro house and everything in between. At Sónar Lisboa 2025, residents Saint Caboclo and Banu are joined by Toronto’s San Farafina, a core member of ‘post-border’ afro-diasporic collective moonshine.mu, plus a live set from rising Galician-Brazilian artist (and recent Nathy Peluso collaborator) Lua de Santana.

There are further connections between the local and global underground throughout the lineup. High-velocity baile funk and Jersey club by Brazilian phenomenon Clementaum meets Maki’s hip-hop and baile funk-inspired bass and breaks; and it’s easy to connect Parisian duo Amor Satyr & Siu Mata’s blend of tribal techno and ‘speed dembow’ with up-and-coming Porto DJ NOIA’s 160bpm-and-rising sets of jungle and hardcore. From her base in Brazil, Chilean-born artist Valesuchi helped build the foundations for the current wave of Latin club sounds: she goes back-to-back with RHR for a wild set of bass-driven, percussive, and firmly international club music. And King Kami returns to Sónar Lisboa together with visual artist João Parente for an AV show that pays tribute to their former shared home, the Brazilian city of João Pessoa; while synthesiser wizard Molero follows up a pair of releases on experimental Lisbon label Holuzam with a dreamy, hallucinatory live set.

Sónar Lisboa 2025 shows the best of Lisbon to the world and brings the best of the world to Lisbon

As is the case every year, Sónar Lisboa 2025 shares artists with its big brother in Barcelona. Acclaimed electronic composer Max Cooper was amongst the 66 artists announced for Sónar 2025 just two weeks ago; Lisbon will get to see his new live show ‘Lattice 3D/AV’ – featuring some new additions to his audiovisual arsenal – before he takes it to Barcelona in June. Alongside Richie Hawtin’s DEX EFX X0X, Gabber Eleganza’s ’The Hakke Show’ was another unanimous highlight at Sónar 2024; this high-energy tribute to Dutch gabber subculture, featuring hakke dancers and hardcore, also comes to Lisbon next April.

This year also shines a spotlight on artists who are updating the sounds of ‘classic’ dance music. KI/KI has shot to stardom in the past two years, spearheading a new wave of trance artists. Spanish underground icon Héctor Oaks plays relentless, vinyl-only sets of techno, ghetto house and electro; his compatriot JASSS pushes the sounds of the rave into the future in her sophisticated, forward-thinking sets. Or:la connects bass music and techno in the way only a UK DJ can, while American multidisciplinary artist Juliana Huxtable – who has won plaudits for her poetry and visual art – spikes Brooklyn warehouse-style techno with samples from hip-hop and hyperpop. DJ Caring (head of Outer Agency) and Dexter (booker at Lisbon club Lux Fragíl) both have deep ties to the local scene, and share a vision of techno that looks to the future rather than the past.

House will always have a home at Sónar Lisboa, and this year is no different. From Barcelona comes the founder of queer FLINTA* collective MARICXS, ISAbella, with a bag full of euphoric house, techno and trance. Josh Caffé is a lynchpin of London’s house scene: his live set promises to be a playful and sensual affair. Brooklyn selector Dee Diggs celebrates the genre’s queer, black heritage in her soulful sets, and BASHKKA b2b Ogazón sees two of the underground’s newest talents go back-to-back for the very first time. Rising local DJ Telma is already well-known in Portugal: her mix of throwback house and techno has obvious international appeal. Syrian-born DJ Zeynep is one of Berlin’s fastest rising artists; her understated, elegant sound is a perfect complement to established local house and disco selector Sheri Vari, who goes back-to-back with another local, hi-NRG devotee Kemetic.

Although the lineup is now complete, there will be another announcement coming soon. Sónar+D also returns to Lisbon next April, looking beyond music and exploring the shared spaces between the creative industries, innovation and technology. More information on next year’s programme, which is supported by ME by Meliá, will be made available soon.

Welcome to Sónar Lisboa 2025. Welcome to the frequency of now.
