Multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ, Quantic (Will Holland) is the next artist to step up to the revered DJ-Kicks series with a beautifully crafted and deeply personal new mix – a luminous journey through global dance sounds, celebrating his 20+ years as a pioneering artist.
Out 30 May via !K7 Records, the mix marks a unique first in the series’ history – it is composed entirely of 100% exclusive original productions, curated and crafted by Quantic, with contributions from his close-knit community of collaborators. To mark the announcement, he shares vibrant lead single ‘Eko Eko (DJ-Kicks)’ – a rhythm-driven disco heater perfect for sun-drenched spring and summer dancefloors and a perfect window into the broader mixes’ rich and storied spirit.
Having lived and worked in the UK, US and Colombia, Quantic draws from a rich network of musical relationships nurtured over two decades. Reaching across continents and cultures, this DJ-Kicks bursts with sonic vitality, threading together unreleased collaborations, Latin percussion, cinematic jazz flourishes, dusty disco textures, and warm club energy. Contributions come from long-time friends and collaborators, including Frente Cumbiero, The Heliocentrics’ Malcolm Catto, Alfa Mist, The Maghreban and more – each bringing their unique energy to a project built on connection and exchange. The result is a set that feels expansive and intimate all at once, which fittingly radiates friends and family energy.
On the collaborations, Quantic shares, “It’s not like writing an album; you’re at the mercy of what other people are creating.” He continues, “Fortunately, the homies’ submissions were of an extremely high calibre!”
Anchored by ‘Eko Eko’, the mix moves through glistening house grooves, heavy cumbia, cinematic downtempo and tempo-shifting clubbier workouts – a testament to Quantic’s genre-fluid approach, impeccable ear and attention to detail. Also featuring new music under his alias Sobredosis, this is a body of work that celebrates not just his incredible journey, but the global musical family he’s cultivated along the way.
With more to be revealed, Quantic describes the mix as a deeply personal journey through sound and scene, one that maps the communal joy of dancing together and the connection found through music. Drawing on a career shaped by movement across the UK, US and Latin America, and a DJ style often booked for sunset into night, the compilation captures shifting energies and tempos – from introspective moods to vibrant, global dancefloor uplift.
“It’s got a moody start and end, but a big portion is uplifting and joyous,” he explains. “This mix encapsulates what I’ve been up to as a DJ over the last few decades, while shining a light on people I admire.”
