Austin, Texas-raised and now Berlin-based DJ and producer Chimp Hardy will release his debut album Animal on 17th July 2026.
Today, we’re pleased to premiere our favourite track from the album, “In Order to Survive”, as featured on the latest Deep ConnectFM Episode 108. Blending Chimp Hardy’s distinctive production style with the forward-thinking spirit of the album, the track offers an exciting glimpse into what listeners can expect from Animal. A wild, high-energy journey through the underground, Animal blends 90s rave, house, techno, jungle, breaks and UK bass into what he describes as a “rave opera” , a full narrative built for the dancefloor.
Alongside the premiere, we also share exclusive words from the artist, offering in sight into the inspiration behind the track, the album’s creative journey, and the ideas that shaped this debut full-length release.
Chimp Hardy: “Every raver has had that moment when they see the sun come up and think, “if only everyone in society could feel this, we’d be in a much better place.” That was my inspiration for this track. A realisation that we can take back ownership of our lives and change the future if we take what we’ve created in the underground and bring that ethos out to the wider society. I mean, something has to change, if we as a planet want to survive, right?”
“In Order to Survive” is the bside to the EP Emergency to survive the third and final EP release before the album release. It is an ambient drum-n-bass track with beautiful pads and a moment of hope. A sample speaks the truth: “They knew, they’d have to take matters into their own hands if they wanted to survive.” A moment of clarity and resolution. The dance floor becomes a space of collective power.
