Groove Squared – Use-less EP
Italian label, DJ crew and radio show Soundzrise welcomes Groove Squared for a fantastic new EP that also comes with standout remixes from SIS and Lollino.
After years spent in the scene and playing as a live band, Groove Squared is now a club focussed producer who draws on jazz, funk, ambient and experimental music for his rich sound. He has produced tracks that have climbed the charts, has worked with a range of real musicians on his albums and had support from the likes of Kerri Chandler and King Britt.
Fresh opener ‘Use-Less’ feat TDR is the sort of serene house track that brings real musicality to the floor. It has careful and thoughtful chords and a rising sense of emotion that washes over you time and time again. Then comes ‘Fear-Less,’ a gorgeously deep house track with great chords that bring warmth and soul. The widescreen grooves have rippling pads and soft percussion all sinking you into the moment as your mind wanders.
Remixing is SIS, the man behind cult tech tracks on labels like his own Cocolino, Cecille and Ricardo Villalobos’s Sei Es Drum label. He brings some real minimal style and infectious percussive energy to his version, which is stripped back and rebuilt on silky drums and drifting pads for those late-night sessions.
Next to remix is Italian Lolliono, who is an official Burn ambassador and pivotal underground figure with ties to labels like the mighty Desolat. His take on the track is special indeed, with piano keys draped over the uplifting drums. It’s a classy affair that will get a big reaction as it brings such joy to the floor.
Last of all, ‘Need-less’ is another beautiful piece, with ambient pads making for a cavernous cut that has a celestial atmosphere. The perfectly clean melodies are brain soothing, while the rubbery drums really get you in the zone.
This EP is stuffed with tasteful house and techno with real musical elegance.
