Key figure of the French Touch, Sébastien Tellier opens a new chapter in his career with the announcement of his seventh studio album, Kiss The Beast.
To mark the occasion, the modern-day dandy with a thousand lives unveils a new single, “Naïf de Coeur”, co-produced with Daniel Stricker (Midnight Juggernauts) and accompanied by a music video directed by Melchior Leroux (nominee for “Best New Director” at the UK Music Video Awards).
In “Naïf de Coeur”, Sébastien Tellier shines a light on the fragility of a tender, dreamlike soul, torn between wonder at the beauty of the world and the weight of inner wounds. Between light and storm, the lyrics emphasize the contrast between romantic idealism and inner pain, revealing a vulnerable heart oscillating between hope and melancholy. It is an ode to sensitivity, where tenderness and introspection intertwine with sorrow.
“This song depicts the reality of a man today, a new definition of the alpha male. If a man, beneath his beard, is tender and dreamy, and if he suffers, then the world is not so dark”, he explains. “Over the sound of saxophone solos, I picture him strolling through Miami, bathed in beautiful lights… We added 10cc-style choirs: recorded by real singers, then transformed until they give the illusion of hundreds of voices, clear and radiant”, Tellier concludes.
From Paris to London, with productions from Victor Le Masne, SebastiAn, Daniel Stricker, and Oscar Holter, Kiss the Beast unfolds as an ambitious mosaic, carried by Owen Pallett’s strings, Nile Rodgers’ guitar, and the contributions of Kid Cudi and Slayyyter. An album in which Tellier distills and transcends his experiences: an extravagant love letter to pop, both intimate and universal.
