Native Boundaries welcomes legendary Dutch producer Orlando Voorn to the label with the Infected Eye EP, landing Friday, September 4. Today, we’re proud to present “Cryptonite” as an exclusive premiere — a powerful new cut for techno music lovers and a first taste of what’s to come.
A true pioneer whose career has connected the worlds of Detroit and European electronic music for decades, Orlando brings his unmistakable approach to the next chapter of Native Boundaries.
Infected Eye dives into the raw, futuristic territory we love-pulling from electro, techno, acid, dub and the deeper edges of machine music. Built on driving rhythms, hardware energy and Orlando’s signature sense of groove, the EP feels rooted in the foundations while pushing somewhere distinctly its own.
For Native Boundaries, this one is special. Orlando’s influence runs deep through the sounds and artists that inspired Native Boundaries from the beginning, making it an honour to have him join the label.

About Orlando Voorn
Orlando Voorn is a Dutch DJ and producer who has worked between Amsterdam and Detroit since the early 1990s. Born in Amsterdam in 1968, he was DJing hip-hop and electro by twelve, won the Dutch DMC Championship in 1986 and 1987, and placed third and fifth at the world finals.
He debuted as Fixomatic with the 1988 single “Hurt Em Bad”, moved through acid as X-It and hip-house as Trigger, and by the turn of the decade was cutting rave records as Frequency and The Nighttripper. Work with Steve Clisby of the American Gypsies taught him chord structure and pushed him past sampling into full composition.
The Frequency records for Lower East Side reached Juan Atkins, who flew to Holland to work with him; the two cut “Game One” for Metroplex. Detroit took him in on his first visit in 1992, the year Kevin Saundersons KMS released “Flash” under the name Fix – a Detroit club record before it travelled. Derrick Mays Fragile issued “Midi Merge” as Complex, and two EPs as The Ghetto Brothers arrived with Blake Baxter.
The rest of the decade ran on volume and disguise, from Night Vision, founded in 1994, to Playboy’s “In da Jungle” and the drum’n’bass turn of Redeye. He moved to Detroit in the early 2000s and re-emerged inside the Submerge family with his Ignitor imprint. The pace has not dropped since: In My World on Rush Hour, voted favourite album of 2016; Frequency vs Juan Atkins on Outer in 2017; Star Travel for Jeff Mills’ Axis; EPs for Clone and Kompakt; and his own labels Triangle, Detroit Boogie Assemble, Nighttripper Records and SoulStage.
