Kulør is proud to present Horsepower – Sugar ’s debut EP for the label following his anxious, tunnelling contribution ‘Drowner’ to the imprint’s inaugural release, Kulør 001. The EP represents a defining period for the Danish producer, DJ and co-founder of Copenhagen booking and events agency Fast Forward Productions – as the “effects chaos” of new studio techniques interface with alternative states of being.
Created across a year defined by psychedelia, trauma and transformation, Horsepower is claustrophobic, but never oppressively so – like being stuck in a small room with a view of a rugged ocean. Sugar’s ability to create multiplicitous spaces within a single track allows the music to be at once upfront, vibrant and ambient while remaining shark-eyed in its relentless pursuit of forward motion. Pairing enveloping atmospheres and dissonant, captivating melodies to high-velocity rhythm sections, the Horsepower EP offers the clearest picture yet of an artist in constant flux(us).
