The Spain-based Parallel label has long been obsessed with classy sounding, emotive house sounds. The home label of Pellon, the prolific producer returns here via a release that — much like his best work — is stunning in its simplicity and many dextrous sounds. Entitled ‘Life is a Game of Love’, it’s a spirited, vocal heavy, smile-inducing release that’s hard not to appreciate. A warm, positive record that’s arrived just as the climes cool in Europe, it’s nothing if not welcome at this time of year especially.
We kick off with the title track, an effective and immediately impressive gem that’s really quite unique in its outlook and demeanour. Almost effortlessly catchy, it grabs our attention from the offset thanks to its colourful, camp vocals, the likes of which wrap the listener up in a warm embrace from the off. Pair this with the track’s stripped-back, groove-heavy baseline, and it’s hardly surprising that this one has all the ingredients to go down a treat with the likes of the Keinemusik and Dynamic crews especially.
