Man Power launches the Cheap Thrills label and teams up with UK art rock band Django Django for the inaugural release, ‘Home’. The track was initially released in support of a Django Django gig at Are You Affiliated – the cult grassroots venue operated by Man Power in North Shields. The initial limited white label run quickly sold out on Bandcamp and garnered high-profile support from the likes of Optimo, Palms Trax and Bradley Zero. Due to popular demand, it now gets a digital release and vinyl repress exclusively for record shops on Man Power’s brand-new Cheap Thrills label.
Title cut ‘Home’ is a lithe groove laden with organic percussion and shimmering guitars, whilst starry synth sequences weave amongst the smoky vocals. As well as a stripped-back instrumental which gets a little deeper, Man Power’s Analogue Dub is a thudding and melon-twisting rework with bold bass notes and fizzing synth textures perfect for backroom sweat-a-thons.
Django Django is an eclectic band that blends indie rock, prog, electronica and psychedelia into their distinct sound. Since forming in 2009,
Dave Maclean, Vincent Neff, Jimmy Dixon and Tommy Grace have pushed boundaries across five vital albums and many more singles, all of which have picked up deserving critical acclaim and earned them a dedicated fanbase.
UK powerhouse Man Power is a prolific DJ, producer, label head and champion of underground DIY culture.
He heads up Me Me Me and has done everything from dark disco to minimal and house to techno on a range of influential labels such as Rekids, Optimo and Echocentric Records. Cheap Thrills is a new label, shop and party venture designed as a new outlet for quick-fire releases, products and artefacts from Man Power, both solo and in collaboration with friends.
