Am I In Love or Just Hungry – More delicious Fast Food Musik from Elliot

We all love pizza, but there is a strong chance that you don’t love it as much as Elliot. For the last few years, the Stockholm-based frontman has been penning wistful singles around his love for fast food, and now returns with his latest gorgeable release ‘Am I In Love Or Just Hungry’,out now via Icons Creating Evil Art.

Inspired by the experimental LA pop scene, which includes figures like Ariel Pink and John Maus, Elliot’s latest offering blends haunting synths with an ethereal vocal presence, all wrapped up in a common feeling of misplaced emotions and sombre contemplation. As a strong lover of all things edible, the frontman plays wildly with the unassured ideas of what true devotion means to all of us, taking that strong surge in our gut and reimagining it as a hunger for something more.

Speaking about his latest release, the frontman explained, “I wrote this song a year ago, having broken things off with someone I was seeing. It is an embarrassing receipt of my past commitment issues. Maybe it is hard to discern anything else but detached irony from many of the tracks on my album. In retrospect, the ’fast food’ subject matter was a guarded metaphor for toxic aspects of my personality, my vices and generally it’s some self-loathing stuff. It’s tough to deal with these subjects upfront when your head is swarming with self-harming thoughts and anxieties, so it was a necessary story telling device for me.

“That being said, making songs about burger grease is a great exercise in distancing oneself from the rest of the local scene, where life-altering subjects like depression and love are ’brought to you by Adidas’.

“Nowadays, it’s not an open-ended question anymore. I’m well fed, just a tint overweight, and in love. I listen to this song with the person I wrote it to, who I am now back together with. She plays many roles on this album to which I’m the antagonist – and is likely the reason why I wrote it in the first place.
