Following the critical acclaim of their 2024 debut album I AM JORDAN, London based DJ and producer Jordan Tek, aka I. JORDAN, returns with a collaborative single together with acclaimed musician, journalist, and drag performer Tom Rasmussen. “An Angel” / “Girl Reborn”, captures both intimate vulnerability and festival-ready euphoria.
Following in the lauded steps of their acclaimed EPs ‘For You’ and ‘Watch Out’, “An Angel” / “Girl Reborn” ties together the intricate production shown in last year’s album, and the crowd-drawing ecstatic energy of their DJ sets. The collaboration pairs Jordan’s genre-defying electronic craftsmanship with Rasmussen’s distinctive vocal presence – an artist who has previously worked with Romy and Self Esteem.
The partnership began organically through London’s interconnected creative scene. “Jordan and I have been circling each other for ages,” explains Rasmussen. “My barber in South East London was like, ‘Do you know this really cool artist I. JORDAN?’ I obviously knew their work and thought: one day we’ll make something ace together.”
That moment arrived when Jordan brought a track born from spontaneous inspiration to their studio session. “I wrote ‘An Angel’ in my hotel room in Chicago in September 2024,” Jordan recalls. “I still can’t quite believe how I made it – it was one of those tracks where everything just falls into place. I wanted to work with a vocalist who could bring as much emotion and nostalgia as the instrumental carries, and Tom’s voice was perfect.”
The creative process proved equally intuitive. “We spent two days deep writing, talking about everything, playing our favorite songs to each other, and ‘An Angel’ emerged,” Rasmussen continues. “‘Girl Reborn’ happened almost by accident – we were just messing about at the end of a session before going off on dates. My date didn’t work out, but the song did.”
The release follows Jordan’s debut album ‘I AM JORDAN’ in 2024, which celebrates collective ecstasy as a mode of self-discovery.
