Good Old Days from S/T EP by Elyas out 26 March on Motech Records
Motech Records’ commitment to providing a platform for the best up and coming techno artists continues with this, ‘The Get Down EP’ [MT 142]. The release sees French DJ and Producer Elyas drop his first EP on the renowned label, following his impressive debut on the Motech compilation ‘Consortium Vol.2’ in 2020. Elyas notes techno, house and 90’s acid house as influences in his craft, and has releases on labels such as Modularz.
‘The Get Down EP’ is a three-track affair inspired by those Detroit Techno masterpieces we all love, and whilst Elyas prefers to let his music do the talking, he references the production values of Detroit techno don, Robert Hood, as well as ‘90s acid sounds as key influences on this slick EP. Elyas says, “For tracks with vocals, I really like Funk, Soul and Disco. I mix all this with the Techno beats, always inspired by the productions of Robert Hood, Mark Broom and Ben Sims.”
Listen to the EP opener, ‘Good Old Days’ for uplifting Techno with a driving rhythm, and delicate reference to a certain Disco classic, that will have you humming the original.
Track two, ‘Get Down’ features twisted Techno chords, with slick loops and sexy vocal hooks that beg to be experienced at 4am on a dance floor. We miss those moments even more after hearing this track; it’s a big one. The final track, ‘Logistic’ further exemplifies Elyas’ Disco and ‘90s house influences, with groovy percussion and loops that lock you into the beat. This is Techno that is accessible and guaranteed to have you stomping and smiling in equal measure.
