Zilo reveals the introverted visuals for ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ + announces debut project

Following on from the incredible statement of intent of her first two singles “Know That I Want You” and ‘Keep Up Wimmi’, London-based R&B sensation Zilo has unveiled the intriguing visuals for ‘Don’t Waste My Time’; a defiant cut of soulful R&B that explores the necessity of coming correct in any situation.

Directed by Bole Collective, the video explores Zilo taking some necessary alone time from those around her. Containing a subtly uplifting message, the visuals aim to express that no matter what is happening, it’s okay to spend some time to focus on yourself as Zilo performs the track in solitude throughout.

Opening to resonant pianos and rolling drum snares, Zilo floats across a laid back rhythm while her now trademark whispered delivery glides through subtle harmonies and hip hop inspired percussive elements. ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ embodies a slowly building funk thanks to a groove laden bassline, otherworldly melodic flourishes and subtle vocal harmonies. If ‘Keep Up Wimmi’ revealed Zilo’s comfort in solitude, ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ steps further into why; with Zilo stunningly vocalising her contentment in not having to rely on anyone else and removing herself from disappointment.

Alongside releasing the visuals for ‘Don’t Waste My Time’, Zilo has announced news of her debut full-length project on September 2nd. ‘The Nature Of The Beast’ is a varied collection of signature soulful R&B from the 24 year old that transcends genre boundary, making for a truly timeless first opus from the hugely impressive artist.

Already marked as one of 2018’s brightest new R&B talents, ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ further encapsulates what makes Zilo one of the UK’s most exciting prospects; honest, relatable lyricism, nostalgia-tinged sonics, and an effortlessly cool vocal delivery. With ‘The Nature Of The Beast’ coming soon, now’s the perfect time to keep up with an artist that’s putting an uplifting twist on modern R&B by doing things completely in her own way.
