Today, Disclosure join forces with Pa Salieu to release ‘King Steps’ – a track that packs-a-punch with its locked on garage beat and Pa’s distinctive vocal bringing the energy, always. ‘King Steps’ just premiered on BBC Radio 1 as its Hottest Record with host Jack Saunders commenting, “The boys are back!… such a heavyweight Hottest Record… I can’t wait for people to hear this record.”
Pa Salieu came out as a surprise guest at the Lawrence brothers’ recent takeover at Manchester’s Warehouse Project to showcase this new single. This special Friends & Family night found Disclosure heading back to their spiritual home and taking over 3 rooms alongside a specially curated lineup featuring Folamour, Floating Points (DJ set), DJ BORING b2b Sam Alfred, Jyoty, Sally C and many more.
This latest very special collaboration follows Disclosure’s latest track, the frivolously filthy club banger, ‘Arachnids’. ‘King Steps’ keeps that gnarly mood alive but bends more towards Guy and Howard’s core influences of UK Garage. As Guy explains, “We’re excited to continue showcasing the darker, harder side of our sound with ‘King Steps’. UK Garage has always been a core influence in our music, and it’s incredible to see its impact growing so much over the past year. Collaborating with Pa Salieu—who’s delivering some of the best music coming out of the UK right now—makes it the perfect time to release this track.”
Following a challenging period of incarceration, British-Gambian artist Pa Salieu has returned with a renewed sense of purpose, channelling his reflections into his music. His latest singles, ‘Belly’, ‘Allergy,’ and ‘Round & Round’ as well as freestyles ‘Epiphany/Crash’ signal a bold new chapter as he pushes boundaries in both sound and storytelling. With new projects on the horizon, Pa Salieu continues to use his voice as an instrument of expression, aiming to uplift and inspire while delivering an unfiltered glimpse into his journey. “My genre is freedom of speech,” he proclaims, embodying his revolutionary spirit and commitment to authenticity.
On the track, Pa shares “I’m an Afrikan Alien, and I know that garage music isn’t a genre people might expect me to jump on—but that’s what being an alien is about, moving from planet to planet, sound to sound. I stepped into Disclosure’s world and together we created an atmosphere that blends where we’re both coming from. That is true collaboration.”
Disclosure’s career to date has seen an exponential growth from self-taught teenage brothers into global superstardom as dance producers and DJ’s having released four studio albums (2 x UK No. 1’s), played countless worldwide festival headline slots (incl. 2 x Glastonburys) and have received multiple GRAMMY and Brit Award nominations, with their latest and ninth GRAMMY nomination coming through for 2025 for their summer smash single ‘She’s Gone, Dance On’.
