Today we premiere “MazanA”, the title track from the forthcoming _studio416 x Sender Berlin EP, set for release on 4 September 2026 via Snork Enterprises.
After 14 years of silence, Sender Berlin return with MazanA, a four-track EP created in collaboration with _studio416. The release arrives on Snork Enterprises, the label that also issued Sender Berlin’s last record in 2012, and captures the project’s renewed energy across Detroit-leaning techno, dub techno textures, atmospheric repetition, and vocal-led moments.
Sender Berlin has been around since 1999. The core still consists of Hendrik Vaak, Torsten Litschko and Alexander Lukat – joined by Sven Elmlund in 2024. The first two studio albums Spektrum Weltweit (Tresor 111) and Gestern Heute Morgen (Tresor 189) were released on Tresor Records.
_studio416 is the studio collective of Sven Elmlund and Hendrik Vaak. This is where the idea was born to create something new with Sender Berlin after all these years.
The _studio416 studio is based in the middle of Marzahn’s concrete jungle, far away from the buzz of Berlin’s hotspots. The special vibe of the area and the quiet nights were the inspiration and foundation for the four new songs. Despite the many concrete housing blocks from the 70s and 80s, there is plenty of green in Marzahn. Birds are chirping, the wind rushes through the concrete pillars, and the city noise only becomes noticeable when you focus on it – at least after a certain hour.
“During production, we often looked out of the studio window, always at this huge apartment block. While the music was playing, the lights in the apartments went on and off, sometimes even in time with the beat. In some apartments the lights were always on, no matter what time it was – in others, there was never any light at all. But of course – there is a story behind every window.” _Hendrik Vaak
MazanA marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sender Berlin. The project never wanted to commit to one particular style – and you can hear that in the new productions, too. Berlin techno remains the foundation: danceable, but not too fast, with excursions into Detroit and dub techno (MazanA, Concrete Rush), repetitive, but never boring, with spherical melodies (Noiser) and vocals by Maria Pietranera (The Morning). This is Sender Berlin 2026.
