Today, Bristol DJ/producers Sam Binga and Addison Groove announce their debut collaborative album BAGS INC., out 10th July via Pineapple Records.
Drawing on techno, electro, raw Chicago house, juke and acid influences, the 12-track LP unites two cornerstones of the UK underground, moving seamlessly across club styles while rooted in Bristol’s soundsystem lineage. Built for the dancefloor but guided by a shared vision, BAGS INC. locks both artists into sharp alignment.
Friends and collaborators since their 2013 ‘BS3’ EP on Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons imprint, Binga and Addison have built a reputation for genre-blurring club music, carving out distinct sonic identities and bridging local scenes with global dancefloors. The album began to take shape during an intensive 72-hour session at Devon Analogue Studios, where, working across classic drum machines, vintage analogue synths and rare hardware effects, the pair explored a shared love of uptempo machine funk, drawing on Detroit jit, Chicago box jams and turbo electro. The result is an album that sits firmly in the 140–150 BPM zone, shaped through the dancefloor and road tested across the summer, including a standout back-to-back at Outlook Origins.
The pair will debut the project this Friday (3rd April) with a live hardware set at fabric, as part of Pineapple Records’ Room 2 takeover, joined by Sir Hiss & Emz, Amy Kisnorbo, Fracture and Chimpo.
Sam Binga says:
“Me and Addison Groove have a shared fascination for raw, machine-led music – you could argue that through tunes like ‘Footcrab’, and then touring with an original 808, Addison is a key part in the story of classic drum machines and UK dance music.
The raw building blocks for the BAGS INC. album came from three days at Devon Analogue Studio – a place absolutely brimming with every iconic piece of dance music hardware, and then some. We dived head first into exploring these boxes, building riffs and grooves, trying to keep that stripped-back essence, but with enough space to add our own flavour.
I’ve always loved the idea of ‘box jams’ – taking hardware, linking it up and creating tracks on those pieces of kit, and we decided that should be the approach to our live show as well – rather than try to recreate the album, instead we want to recreate the spirit, aesthetic and workflow that inspired it. It’s gonna be hectic, but I can’t wait to hear those big Roland kicks on the Fabric system”.
BAGS INC. lands 10th July via Pineapple Records, marking the beginning of a new collaborative chapter for both artists.
